My educational and training background:

After completion of a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Regis University, I began doing clinical work in the context of my education and training in graduate work in 1997, pursuing first my Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Denver Seminary completed in 2002, and, after completing a one-year Pre-Doctoral Internship at the Colorado State Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan, completed my doctorate degree, PhD in Counseling Psychology, from the University of Denver in 2008.  I worked for 7 years at Adult Intensive Services for Aurora Mental Health Center, and 2 years at the Mental Health Center of Denver.  For the last 7 years I have worked with veterans at the Denver VA Medical Center (now Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center in Aurora, CO). I continue this full-time employment. All of these 16 years of experience have included working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness across all categories including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, thought disorders (e.g., Schizophrenia), and personality disorders, among others.

I approach therapy through building a foundation of an unconditionally supportive, non-judgmental, and empathic relationship. I see therapy as a collaborative process with you working during and between sessions and me providing expertise, education, and tools to empower your progress. After we identify your goals for your therapy, partly through getting clarity about your values, I will facilitate the development of new ways of thinking and being that will contribute to you cultivating the life you want.
